My name is Sydney Fraser and I am a senior at Olentangy Liberty High School. I am working on a project to bring awareness of sex trafficking to our school district. We have heard a lot about your book and your personal experiences, and feel that you could be a great resource. Hello Theresa, your story reaches into the bottom of my heart; I am 43, I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI, in a Catholic School- and I believe my best friend Nicole was involved in human trafficking, she was 12 when she started acting like a different person- I will never be able to fully prove her story because she died of an overdose in Miami at the age of 27 at the hands of her Pimp! This has haunted me my entire life! I have tried to move on but life keeps bringing me back; I am currently finishing my degree in Forensic Science & Psychology at Madonna University- Like you, my friend came from a good family in the community; by the time her family became aware, Nicole was so deep, and so hooked on drugs- she was absolutely broken and unreachable. I last spoke with my friend in March 1996- she died a few weeks later on April 10, she was layed to rest in our community cemetery on my 27th birthday. I would like to help promote SOAP, as well as increase awareness of Human Trafficking; especially here in Detroit! I firmly believe that there needs to be more public awareness!! This message needs to come out! I would like to start with educating girls as young as 7th grade- and up through college. With your help I'm confident I can help get this message in more places !!
