How can I get involved?

To Whom This MayConcern:
I have long been educating myself and reading as much as I can about the plight of women and children sucked into the horrific world of human trafficking. I cannot imagine a more devastating form of slavery, and while not personally affected, this knowledge has not quickly left me. Many nights, I think and pray for these poor individuals lost to all except God, in rings of the most debased human cruelty.
I first happened upon your initiative when a friend of mine who knows my interest in this subject, sent me a link to an article about how you pass out soap with telephone numbers embedded inside the wrappers. I thought: "How brilliant!" And my next thought was, "How could I do this?"
I am a (mostly) stay at home mother of two daughters, but I do work one day a week as a registered nurse in a major downtown Indianapolis hospital. I have a good friend who works in sales for a major hotel in downtown Indianapolis as well and I have wondered: "Could I help put together these bars of soap and pass them out? Could I contact my friend and have easier access to passing the soap out? Could I be a contact for your organization during major events such as the Indy 500, NCAA, Super Bowl, etc?" This is a subject, a reality that has long left an indelible print on my heart that God will not let me forget. I want to be involved, I want to help, I want to share the hope all can find in Jesus even after unspeakable tragedies. I truly hope there is something, anything I can do to help. I anxiously await a response and pray I can get involved to help put a stop to this horrific reality for so many- even in our country. Thank you and may God bless you.

Thank you for your note and for thinking of Marriott..  It has been shared with our team as we manage Marriott’s corporate social responsibility programs and contributions. 
 
We applaud your innovative efforts to address human trafficking.  Marriott is in full agreement with you and feels human trafficking is a tragic crime that needs to be eliminated.  Other organizations working on this issue have also approached us to have guest facing materials.  Unfortunately, the proposal for these guest facing materials has not been received well.  (Please note that the majority of our hotels are either managed or franchised, we do not own them.)
 
This has not prevented Marriott from taking a stand against this crime and focusing our efforts where we feel we can make an impact.  Below are a few examples of our ongoing efforts:
 
Ø  We have established an executive-level Human Rights Task Force to advance Marriott’s human rights policies and programs.  In 2010, the Task Force approved Human Rights and the Protection of Children training for our security officers and all property-based associates worldwide.   We have over 4,000 properties in nearly 80 countries.
Ø  We make our associates aware of the company’s ethical policies, compliance programs and related training programs.. We publish details of these policies on our website including our Principles of Responsible Business on global employment, human rights, environment and supplier conduct as well as our Human Rights Commitment and Policy Statement.
Ø  We support former victims of human trafficking through programs like Youth Career Initiative, which provide help provide workforce development, training and the chance for a better life
